RM SFMOMA tickets and ticket price

The RM show is a surcharged exhibition: SFMOMA adds $10 on weekdays and $12 on weekends and holidays to regular admission. Here's what that works out to (KQED reported the same totals):

TicketWeekdayWeekend / holiday
Adult$40$42
Senior (65+)$35$37
Full-time student (with ID)$33$35
Age 18 and underFreeFree
SFMOMA memberFreeFree
Encore Pass (unlimited visits)$75 one-time$75 one-time

The rules that trip people up, all from SFMOMA's FAQ:

  • Timed entry for everyone, including kids, members and Encore Pass holders. Be at the exhibition by your ticketed time.
  • No re-entry to the RM galleries once you leave.
  • Tickets are nonrefundable, nontransferable and can't be resold.
  • Same-day tickets: a limited number may be available on-site, first come, first served, at the Floor 2 Ticketing Desk. Don't count on this for a weekend.

Availability right now: opening weekend sold out. SFMOMA's exhibition page says "weekday tickets are widely available from Oct 5 onward, as are tickets for all weekends except the first few Saturdays." SFMOMA told Korea JoongAng Daily (Oct 8) that the show had about 7,500 visitors so far and more than 50,000 ticket reservations.

Is the Encore Pass worth it?

The $75 Encore Pass gives one named person unlimited visits to the RM show for its whole run, each with same-day general admission. Since an adult ticket is $40-$42, it pays for itself on your second visit. Per SFMOMA:

  • You still book a timed ticket for every visit.
  • It includes an exclusive gift (on-site pickup only, at the Membership Desk on Floor 2, while supplies last).
  • You get 10% off at the Floor 7 exhibition pop-up store only, not the main store or online.
  • It doesn't cover guests or member previews, and it's nontransferable. The full $75 can be applied toward an SFMOMA membership.

How to book RM SFMOMA exhibition tickets

  1. Go to tickets.sfmoma.org (also linked from the exhibition page).
  2. Pick "RM x SFMOMA + General Admission", not plain General Admission.
  3. Choose a date and entry time. Weekdays have the most open slots.
  4. Members: log in to your account first, then reserve your free timed ticket.
  5. Arrive on time. You can't be admitted to the RM galleries after your slot.

What's in the RM SFMOMA exhibit

RM (Kim Namjoon) curated the show with SFMOMA's América Castillo and Hyoeun Kim. It pairs works from his private collection, which he has been building for almost a decade, with pieces from SFMOMA's collection. The focus is modern and contemporary Korean art shown next to international artists.

  • How many works: SFMOMA's press release says nearly 180 works in total. Its exhibition page says nearly 150 come from RM's own collection, and KQED counted 142 from RM plus more than 30 from SFMOMA. Many have never been shown publicly in the US.
  • Layout: several rooms on Floor 7, organized around eight themes, according to KQED.

The best part for fans is how much of RM is in the room:

  • Handwritten wall texts by RM in English and Korean. The Korea Times describes a large entrance mural covered in his notes.
  • An audio guide narrated by RM, in English and Korean, that you play on your own phone. KQED says it's free on SFMOMA's website, so bring headphones and a charged phone.
  • An in-gallery music playlist RM put together, per SFMOMA's press release.

RM SFMOMA merch

There are two places to buy official RM x SFMOMA merch inside the museum:

  • Exhibition store, Floor 7: the widest selection. You need a timed RM x SFMOMA ticket to get in.
  • Museum Store, ground floor: a limited selection, no ticket needed.

The SFMOMA Museum Store lists apparel, accessories, ceramics, posters and notebooks. Named pieces include the Between You and Me hoodie, sweatshirt, canvas tote and hat, a "Passion" hat, an "I Don't Know But I Like It" hat, and a zine. On opening weekend, the San Francisco Standard reported hats at $45, zines at $20 and a hoodie at $155. It also reported checkout lines of over an hour on the first member-preview day.

Store hours are Monday-Tuesday 11 a.m.-5 p.m., Thursday noon-8 p.m., Friday-Sunday 11 a.m.-5 p.m., closed Wednesday. The Museum Store says it restocks regularly during the run, though some styles may sell out between deliveries. All sales are final.

Update, Oct 13, 2026: SFMOMA paused online preorders around opening week after getting thousands of orders within hours, and Sports Kyunghyang reported on Oct 7 that they were still paused. The Museum Store's own page now says RM x SFMOMA preorders are "back online for a limited time," with a limit of 2 units per style. Some styles may take up to three months to arrive, and it ships to a list of countries that includes Canada, the UK, South Korea and Australia. Phone orders and in-store pickup are not offered for this collection.

Coming from out of town? SFMOMA's press release calls this the exhibition's only US presentation, so San Francisco is it. For BTS's own travel schedule, see our ARIRANG tour dates. RM also appears throughout the Netflix film BTS: The Return.

Tip: For a calmer visit, book a weekday or a Thursday evening slot, and shop the Floor 7 store during your timed visit. It needs an exhibition ticket, re-entry to the show isn't allowed, and the ground-floor store has a smaller selection.
